When a short story can drag you in, tie you down, stun you and consume you ...you know you're dealing with a writer with real talent.

Tiffany Reisz has taken the world by storm with her book, The Siren, and her amazing, flawed but oh-so human characters. With Seven Day Loan we get a taste of Nora when a young submissive to Soren. So deep is their relationship that he can do anything to Nora that he wants, even loan her out for a week to another man.

What continually fascinates me is how Tiffany Reisz uses sex, particularly the BDSM lifestyle, as a way to strip away the facade of each character until the deep down truth of who they are is revealed. The compassion with which she does this in Seven Day Loan quite sincerely touched my heart.

I rarely like short stories. If I'm going to enter a world and invest myself in it I really want to spend time there. While the number of words used in Seven Day Loan might be those of a short story, the power and impact of the plot and characterization packs a punch. This is definitely a story to read many, many times.
